NEW Italian Sunday Roast - family style

We introduce our incredible family style Italian Sunday roast. Slow cooked porchetta and shoulder of lamb (yes, you get both) and if you are a veggie, we have created a filo mushroom ragu tart (see photos). Our family style roast is served in the middle of the table and is literally a feast. Served with french green beans in a garlic and lemon drizzle, roasted carrots, roasted beetroot, roast parsnips, oodles of roast potatoes, creamed garlic leeks, crackling, salsa verde, roast garlic heads. This is an unforgettable experience. With only two afternoon sittings and limited supply, book your spaces now.

What we do

We are open again! with our 2024 new menu

We have new fresh starters including a Salt cured salmon with caper berries and a home cured lemon puree and a new approach to our burrata. New main courses include a new risotto di scampi e gamberi and this months special which is a very lasagne from Bologna. Take a look at our menu.

Authentic Italian dishes

Our pasta is made every morning in the front window by our chef. We first make the pappardelle for our ragu and then start on The Poco so that they are fresh every day. All our dishes are authentic and traditional Italian recipes drawn from both Christina's and Jamie's Italian heritage

The bottle shop

When you visit us you will notice a vast selection of the best wine known to humanity for sale. You can buy a bottle or two for taking home or drinking in with your meal.

A BIT OF HISTORY

From my Italian Nonna to Sussex with local produce

I used to leave school at 3pm and walk to my Nonna's house and stay there until my Mum finished work. My Nonna never spoke English all the 38 years she lived in Polegate but she had her Ragu going on the stove all that time. The left overs would go back in and the sugo was the same stock for at least 20 years. Then in 1996 I met Christina and Claudio Cavallari in Eastbourne. They had just arrived in Eastbourne from running thier restaurant in Bologna for ten years. Chirstina is Cordon Bleu trained in Paris and has spent 35 years of her life perfecting her art. They invited me and Mathilda (daughter and boss) to their house for dinner and Christina's cooking, especially her Tiramisu, was better than Nonna's (sorry Nonna). Now with Christina heading up the kitchen and Mathilda and I front of house we, together are fulfilling a 25 year dream.

Bottle shop - Wine

We have a large selection of wines and local beers for you to take away. Most of our wines are selected direct from vineyards with careful consideration. Come and have a look and try some outstanding wine experiences. We wrap each bottle in our branded tissue.

Wolstonbury Pet Nat

Ivan, the winemaker, and his family have a vineyard just outside Brighton at the base of Wolstonbury hill. They produce just 3500 bottles a year and we are lucky to be the only outlet for their wine other than their tasting room.

Mas de Daumas Gassac 2005

Nicknamed 'The Lafite of the Languedoc' This wine is one of the best Cabernet Savignon's of France. With nearly 20 years in the bottle, the age has balanced the fruit and tanins to give an extremely smooth experience.

We are giving you the opportunity to have just a glass of this wine using our Corvin system

Cosme Palacio 1894 Bianco
White Rioja

This wine has entered the favourite list for Poco.. It drinks like an old Burgundy. Only 1775 bottles produced, this wine is pure art. With notes of honey and vanilla and a buttery and creamy finish.

It is on our monthly specials by the glass list so, you can come and try a glass...
